Striped Puffer

(Chilomycterus schoepfi)


This striped puffer is doing what most porcupine fish do very well, looking for food! They will usually swim up to the top every time you approach the aquarium. This one has the spines which are always erect. Despite their tough exterior, puffer fish are actually quite inteligent fish and can be easily trained to be hand fed.

    Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean.
  • Diet & Feeding:

    Feed all kinds of live, frozen, and meaty foods(will also eat small fish and goldfish).
  • Aquarium Behavior:

    Aggessive toward small fish, they will eat most anything that fits into their mouths. Keep with other large species.

    Can become destructive due to their large size.
