Volitan Lionfish

(Pterois volitans)


The Volitan is the most well known ,within the aquarium trade, of the various Lionfish species. The Volitan has only partially tissue filled pectoral fins, with red pelvic fins and relatively clear anal and caudual fins. Wide and narrow dark red bands alternate across the body and there are tentacle-like growths above the eyes.
