Turkey Lionfish

(Pterois brachypterus)

More sedentary than most other Lionfish prefers to wait around for passing prey. The Turkeyfish is a very ornate species with red-brown body that has many white-edged vertical bars. The dorsal fin is multirayed and tissue spans the elongated rays. The male of the species has longer and larger pectoral fins and head than the female. Due to its relatively small size within the Lionfish family this species has attracted the alternate name of Dwarf Lionfish.
